Program Overview
Native New Jersey Plants
Bioregional Resilience
Blue Herons Native Nursery offers biologically primed native plants designed not only to help farmers, gardeners, and landowners improve soil health but also to provide vital and beautiful habitats for the creatures that sustain healthy farm ecosystems. This includes birds, bees, and the countless unseen organisms that make nutrients available to plants—the vital critters collectively known as the soil food web. Nursery opening April of 2026!
Events, Classes & Farm Tours
Educational Program
Join us for farm tours and educational workshops to learn about healthy farming practices, biodynamic agriculture, and the connection between healthy ecosystems and nutritious food.
Curriculum is rooted in growing for a healthy planet; nurturing connections and growing bioregional resilience within the art & science of agriculture.
Soil Health
Biodiversity Conservation
We utilize plants and biology for increased soil health. Plant diversity, vermicast extracts, quality composts, biological teas, and plant-derived amendments are designed to increase diversity in the soil—ultimately creating conditions for climate resiliency.
Community
Empowering Change-Makers
Through community engagement and empowerment, we encourage participants to design sustainable agricultural systems, select crops based on ecological benefits, and create functional spaces that support biodiversity.
We are also planning for future fun and shenanigans for people of all ages!
Pollinator Habitats
Ecosystem Stewardship
Our front display garden will feature native plant demonstration gardens for people to tour and enjoy. The Native Plant Sales Garden will be home to selected native plants available for your farm and garden.
Learn how native pollinator plants can boost your production through diversity above and below ground.
